Today we are showing off a render of our second French pistol, the Mle 1892 revolver.
In the late 1880s the French had just revolutionised the world of military rifles with the 1886 Lebel and its new smokeless powder cartridge. Inevitably, some thought would come around to similarly improving on the model 1873 Chamelot-Delvigne blackpowder revolvers. Taking a lot of features from the Schmidt M1882, a new design was approved for production in 1887. Introducing a new 8mm cartridge, and using a gate loading action with trigger disconnect, it was a functional upgrade to the older model. However only a small number could be produced as the state arsenals were at capacity producing the Lebel rifles…
